Drip Mask

Pink and purple drips running off the top edge of a black panel, with HYDRATE across the mouth row, because a mask that says something is a mask people talk to. Eleven rows by twenty-five, woven on fishing line; the only elastic is the ear straps. Check the fit before you strap it.

  • Letter beads come as mixed A–Z packs — you need 7 of them, so check the pack has enough of each letter.
  • Weave the panel on fishing line — it has to hold its shape. The length below is the panel only; add about 6 in (15 cm) of 1 mm stretch cord per ear strap.
  • Cord length already includes about 20% slack. Cut long, trim after you tie off.

  • Black Opaque Pony Beads (500pcs)

    BeadTin

158 × black in this pattern

Blackout stacks and cuff outlines eat black faster than anything else. A dedicated bag means you are not fishing black beads out of a mix one at a time at midnight.

  • Magenta Neon Bright Pony Beads (500pcs)

    BeadTin

85 × uv pink in this pattern

The hot pink in half the UV charts here. Fluorescent finish, so it reads under stage lighting and blacklight, not only in a daylight photo.

  • Mixed Sunshine Pony Beads, UV color-changing (200pcs)

    BeadTin

25 × uv purple in this pattern

These are the sun-reactive kind: white indoors, saturated the second you walk outside. A daytime-set trick, not a blacklight one — for blacklight you want the neon bags above.

  • Beading fishing line, 0.2 mm

    Amazon

600 cm (236 in) per piece

A mask panel has to hold its own shape. Elastic lets it sag against your mouth; monofilament does not.

  • 1mm White Stretch Cord, 90m spool

    BeadTin

about 6 in (15 cm) per ear strap

The default cord on this site — every cord length in every bead count assumes 1mm. One spool is dozens of singles or a handful of cuffs before you reorder.

  • Alpha Letter Bead Mix, black on white (144pcs)

    BeadTin

    7 letter beads

A mixed A–Z pack instead of buying single letters. 144 beads covers a couple of full phrases with spares for the letters every word runs short on — you will still run out of E.

How to make it

  1. 1Cut the lineCut 600 cm (236 in) of fishing line for the panel. Fishing line is what holds the shape — keep the 1 mm stretch cord aside for the ear straps.
  2. 2String rows 1 and 2 togetherThe first two rows go on in a single pass — 50 beads straight onto the line. They separate as soon as you add row 3.
  3. 3Drop every new row into the gapsAdd a bead, skip a bead on the row below, pass through the next. Keep the tension easy: the spacing between beads is the airflow. Carry on to the top — 11 rows.
  4. 4Leave the panel flat and slightly bowedDo not bring the ends together and do not zip it into a cuff. Ease the top and bottom rows so the panel bows outward instead of pressing against your lips.
  5. 5Add the ear strapsAnchor 1 mm stretch cord at the top corners, about three rows down from the edge, and again at the bottom corners. Roughly 6 in (15 cm) per strap. Try it on before you trim.
  6. 6Tie it offKnot the working line against an edge bead, weave both tails back through a few beads, and trim. A dab of clear glue on the knot is optional.
